The problem is, most mainstream retail outlets employ teenagers
who are hardly authorised to offer a (genuine) price reduction on anything.  You
need to be negotiating with the manager -- actually, I'm not even sure 
who you need to be negotiating with, as the term "Store Manager"
seems to now refer to one of the most junior of the retail staff.
