Systems Engineer
Salary Dependent on Experience 

TransACT is looking for an energetic and proactive person to join the TransACT Systems and Technology team based in Canberra.
The systems engineer is responsible for the programming of specified tools and applications and to assist the Systems and Technology division in the delivery of projects.   

In brief, the successful applicant will:
Assist the senior systems engineers in the programming and documentation for systems and software development projects 
Participate in the development and implementation of tools to assist in the integration of networks and systems 
Provide support to existing systems and software 
Prepare and maintain systems software and technical documentation
Consult with network engineers’ video engineering, business systems and vendors
Evaluate the programming requirements;
Provide support to the business for system faults where they are escalated from or outside the experience of the Systems Operations Group (SOG)

The successful applicant will have:
Expertise in supporting and developing on Unix and Linux platforms 
Experience with Perl is required, preferably within a LAMP environment
Experience with XML-RPC, SOAP, CGI and HTML is essential
Knowledge of database design and programming and familiarity with network protocols such as SNMP and Telnet is desirable
Knowledge of programming languages such as Python and/or Java is an advantage
A broad understanding of how Internet technologies operate
Commitment to high standards of documentation
Ability to work in small teams or independently in order to deliver projects in a timely manner
