That's actually not true. Ubuntu specifically has the
icedtea-gcjwebplugin, which uses the openjdk-6 JDK.

I've recompiled it locally here on Debian, and it seems to work for the
couple of things I've thrown it at. It's nice having an AMD64 Java
plugin that isn't using gcj with the associated lack of sandboxing.

I've no idea _where_ in Ubuntu it is, so it may be only in whatever
their current development branch is.

If anyone's looking for Debian packages (it's stuck in NEW processing
and has been for a while, there's some outstanding license issues on
openjdk-6) I can give you a copy of what I'm running.
