[clug] Firefox, 64bit Ubuntu and Java

There is no 64 bit java 6 plugin for firefox atm.

If you google you can find a number of 32bit workarounds using the 32bit
firefox and the 32bit jre. I have tried it with java 5 a while back and it
seemed to work but I didn't keep the config as it seemed a bit buggy and
slow.

I currently run 64bit firefox with the blackdown jre-1.4 that is available in
the repos and it does OK. It even seems to do webstart fairly well, but it is
of course only version 1.4.

We need someone in the Ubuntu community to take up the challenge of porting
the 6 plugin and webstart to amd64.

http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?p=1174435 might help with doing a 32bit
install on your box.
