Hi all,
It (should) be all about risk and savings:
- Would changing to Linux result in savings? Maybe.
- Would changing to Linux result in exposure to risk? Yes. (the
incumbent seem to work well enough, why take chances?)
So:
- To proceed the savings would need to be conmensurate with the risk.
- The tipping point comes with increasing the savings and/or reducing
the risk.
A more likely scenario is that something disruptive like software as a
service will
change the rules. Far better to antipate tomorrow's issues than consider
yesterday's.
Cheers,
Antti
