Are you in Canberra?
Maybe someone from the Group might give up some of their time to help you.

>From the lack of information (kernel, distro, release, gcc, libs,
commands affected, filesystems, trace) in your plea for help, I'm
guessing you are a linux novice. Perhaps someone on the list could
gently guide you in identifying the cause of your error and ways to
resolve it.

There has to be a good document around that talks about how to be
effective in asking for help. (pointers anyone?)

A quick search of the Web shows a lot of requests for help on this
topic, and no solutions.
