I've used a USB to serial port converter to connect a
3D tracker to a PC running Linux without any problems.
The device name changed from /dev/ttyN to /dev/ttyUSBN
but otherwise I was pleasantly surprised to find that
everything Just Worked, right down to being able to
set the baud rate, stop bits, and other parameters.
