Hi Duncan,

Unless it does something really unusual, I'd be surprised if
it actually required RHEL. We use ordinary SuSE to test stuff
that goes onto SLES and rarely notice any significant differences.
Perhaps Red Hat is a bit different in this regard; I don't know.
ANU might have a site licence/bulk/academic licence anyway.

Less sure about the 64 bit issue, we've side stepped that for a
while until I get some 64 bit hardware for testing. ;-p

May one ask what the scientific package is?

One of the Academics here needs to run a scientific package and it lists its requirements as Red Hat Enterprise Linux WS 3.0 (64-bits). I am currently setting up his new Xeon machine for it.

As far as I remember, this is not a free copy anymore, so he has to buy it. Is this true ?

If so where can we purchase a copy of this ?
