a big tick for Velocity from me, and also a recommendation that you
check out Transact (cable TV/net/phone carrier, on which you have a
choice of ISPs), if it's available in Charnwood.

IIRC, Velocity have just bought Internode, and they have a Debian
mirror (not always up to date, mind you), some streaming free Net
radio, and generally an excellent approach to support.

Velocity (and several other ISPs) do ADSL, Transact and something
called "dial-up".
