I hope you're using a 2.6 kernel... that's got ALSA built in, and
hopefully the Audigy would work directly out of the box.

ftp://ftp.alsa-project.org/pub/kernel-patches/ has patches against
the latest 2.6 kernel, although if Linus's merged any ALSA since the
last release, the latest patches _will_ reflect that, so you'll either
have to get the current bk or -rc version, or get an older patch.

Are you following the AMD64 Debian port's progress at the moment?

If not, it's reported to be more than 97% complete, and have the
second largest package base (after x86) in Debian.

Their FAQ talks about getting openoffice working under AMD64, since
it apparently doesn't yet build with AMD64 natively.
