I havent been able to find any instance of this in the Macromedia support
forums or on their website. I guess I will have to take it up with
Macromedia.

Nathan,

I had similar issues with JBuilder installs on RHL using this installer.
The following might be worth trying:

LAX_DEBUG=true; export LAX_DEBUG displays debugging information during
installation;

I needed to do the following to get the JBuilder install to work:

LD_ASSUME_KERNEL=2.2.5; export LD_ASSUME_KERNEL
