Double sync'ng with rsync

I have a problem in that I have 2 sites each with a copy of a database.

Does anyone know of an algorythm, preferably using rsync, that will allow
me to update the one database from the other, working in both directions.

It strikes me, prime face, as being almost impossible but it might just be 
doable.
