G'day,

A thread came up on disposal of computers in Canberra on a popular Linux
mailing list today, and your site was mentioned. A couple of people
(including myself) have some queries and concerns about the practices you
employ. The readers of this mailing list are the type of people to have
significant numbers of computers, in both work and home environments. I've
cc:'d the mailing list.

Perhaps you would care to clarify how you actually deal with the systems that
people pay you to dispose of? Here are a couple of links expressing concern:
http://lists.samba.org/pipermail/linux/2003-January/014986.html
http://lists.samba.org/pipermail/linux/2003-January/014987.html
and here is the main page, where you can see the thread (look for the topic:
"When the end really comes").

In particular, you might like to comment on:
1. how much of each computer sent to you ends up in land fill, in Australia,
and overseas
2. how much of each computer (and other product, such as laser printer) is
actually resold
3. how much is recycled as scrap metal
4. how you deal with the toxic materials
5. any general code of conduct that you follow.
6. why laser printers can be recycled, and photocopiers can't.

Brad
