[clug] laptop repairs?

I have a couple of laptops that are out of warranty and starting to
fail (broken LCD cable?), but still potentially serviceable.  Does
anyone know of companies in Canberra that do this kind of repairs?

Dell are apparently not interested (and have aggressively unhelpful
service staff.)  IBM were much better but have an up-front quote fee
of $135 (credited against repairs) so I thought I'd look at other
options.
