Guys,

Perhaps I should have been clearer. I do have my IPCOP firewall (Pentium
MMX 233MHZ) with two ethernet cards - one (Green) to my switch and the
other (Red) will be to the ADSL Modem/Router. I suppose my question(s)
should have been
	a. What's a good value ethernet modem (or router)?
	b. Is the, perhaps minimal, extra packet-filtering of a router
worth it ... a case of 2 firewalls being better than one and
preferably two different types of firewalling software.

And, no, I would not just trust a router for firewalling, hence I'd
never get a built-in ethernet switch version of some of the ADSL
ethernet routers on offer.

It's clear that two DIFFERENT firewalls in series is a good thing. So,
"in theory", a router with a single ethernet port, which offers some
firewalling capabilities is a cheap and "nicely packaged" second
firewall. It appears that, to buy a minimal router, rather than a modem,
moves one from the $150 region to the $250 region for ADSL. So, is the
extra $100 worth it? Are there routers out there which are worth the
extra $$$'s - remember, I believe the packaging factor is very useful
and to add a second firewalling pc means $150 adsl modem + around $350
for an old PC.

Perhaps this is all moot as I've just seen the Netcomm NB1300 for
$149.00.
