Problem installing Mandrake 8.2 on Acer Veriton 5500

Have tried a number of times to install Mandrake 8.2 on an Acer Veriton
5500 however the network card was not recognised, and couldn't seem to
install it manually (eepro100) because of my lack of knowledge. Could
anyone point me at simple instructions to manually install networking,
otherwise I'll use SUSE which does recognise the network card.
