Health of Gnome vs KDE

On a related topic, anyone care to point me at a link that describes when and 
why Enlightenment disappeared from RedHat.  I've been using KDE for the last 
year or so, and I didn't notice its absence until recently.  Hardly 
essential, but I'm just very very curious.
