That's normal when telstra is broken. We had that for a whole day not so
long ago.

Ofcourse, telstra might be fine. If anyone else in your area is fine then I
suggest checking all the connections. Check if pppoe -A works. Check if you
can ping the router (I forget the IP right now). The router (at least the
alcatel one) has a built in webserver which will at least tell if all those
connections are fine.

How many light are on on the modem itself?
