Hello Mr.wrubleski,
I have tried to use the link given below to set up
nis+ clients(RH7.3) for a solaris NIS+ server.
http://www.math.ucalgary.ca/~mlwruble/help/nisplusconfig.txt

The clients take an awful lot of time to come up( half hour for booting,
gets stuck for a long time at starting portmapper & keyserv and half hour
to show the KDE gui for login prompt). Can you please let me know why its
happening this way.

ps: I have a packet filtering firewall between the clients and the server.
static maps are set on the firewall for the 30 clients to contact the
server via nat from 10.174.x.x client network to 129.174.x.x server
network and vice-versa. ** In this scenario, should the hosts.org_dir on
the nis+ server, have 10.174.x.x IP or 129.174.x.x IP???*** Iam confused.
When I perform "nisinit -c -H 129.174.x.x" it creates a NIS cold start
file properly in /var/nis directory, which means the requests and
responses are proper through firewall. Can anybody please throw some light
on this issue.

Thanking you in anticiaption,
Ravi Kiran Bhaskar
