Ah.  I had it backwards.

Do you have any host restrictions listed in s1:/etc/dfs/dfstab ?

If not, you should be fine.

Regardless, if it were a permission problem, you should see a related error
message, and not a message to do with the RPC timing out.

I don't know if it's related (I suspect it isn't), but try to make sure the
E450 has the same time (using rdate or ntp) as s1.

After that, I would probably start using snoop to see what the interactions
were, comparing them between a good host and the E450.
