automount on Linux

Hi,

Anyone have idea about my problems below?

- On Solaris, you can define variables with
  "automountd" (eg. /usr/lib/autofs/automountd -D PLATFORM=Solaris),
  then you can use the variables in your automount
  tables/maps (eg. auto_tool can have entries like:
  toolabc nfsserver:/tool/toolabc/$PLATFORM).
- how to implement the above on Linux?
