Thanks for the patch.  It compiled, loaded and I believe my remount
problem has been corrected...time will tell.

I have attached the patches for Kernel 2.4 (which were provided by
Yehuda).

cifs-2.4-build.patch is for patching the build scripts and
cifs-2.4-r111.patch is for patching cifs.
cifs-linux-converged-for-old-kernels-149-r111.zip contains the zipped
source
for cifs (this need to be patched using cifs-2.4-r111.patch).

So in short

1. Unpack kernel source
2. patch the build 'scripts' using cifs-2.4-build.patch
3. unzip cifs-linux-converged-for-old-kernels-149-r111.zip (you should
now
have a linux/fs/cifs directory)
4. patch cifs using cifs-2.4-r111.patch
5. compile kernel

I have tested it with Kernel 2.4.34.4
