I have merged all relevant fixes (from 1.17 through current, 1.20 cifs
code) from the 2.6 cifs version to 2.4 and posted it to 
http://pserver.samba.org/samba/ftp/cifs-cvs/cifs-1.20-2.4.tar.gz

This includes the fix for the multiple user mount failure, cifsd
spinning bug, which should address your SYN flood.

This 2.4 version has not been tested, as none of my test machines are
running 2.4 kernel at the moment, but I did check that it built fine on
linux-2.4.   If you try it let me know if it tests out ok
