I can confirm it for 1.2.8 and a slightly modified filter: I always use 
loadBalance (call SmbSession.getChallengeForDomain) and never do Basic Auth 
(removed this code part).

jcifs.smb.lmCompatibility is set to 3. Session signing works against Win2k3 
Server with default configuration.
