[jcifs] NTLM login failure page when using filter?

I've got jCIFS running on Tomcat as a filter now, everything works
wonderfully when authentication is successful. However when it fails,
I just get a blank page.

The HOWTO doesn't cover what happens if login fails, I'd like to
populate REMOTE_USER with a NULL value. Either that, or redirect to a
specific page if auth fails.

Is this possible using the existing filter or do I have to I have to
implement my own filter somehow?
