Hi,

Since upgrading from distcc-2.0.1 to distcc-2.1 we keep geeting such
errors and distributed compilations fail:

gcc: installation problem, cannot exec `as': No such file or directory

We're running distcc on 25 Red Hat Linux 7.3 machines, most of them
being dual-Pentium Dell machines (with hyperthreading enabled which
means they're actually seen as quad-processor machines).

With distcc-2.0.1 all our distributed compilations run smoothly. With
distcc-2.1 or distcc-2.2 we occasionally see the above error message.
Every single machine has been checked: '/usr/bin/as' is in the path and
we are able to build C/C++ programs on every machine.

Is there any way to find which machines the failed compilation was sent to?

Any ideas on how to debug this issue? Any other clues?

Regards,

Dimitri
