Miguel sent me the following bug report which states its fixed in 3.3.5

Does this mean it needs to be compiled with an option to define
HAVE_BROKEN_READLINK?

Reading that thread Miguel promised to recompile after changing the hint
I gave him in

We did not hear back from him, so I would guess this has fixed it for
him. You might also want to try this.

Please give feedback for it if it works, we might want to add a
configure check for it and put it into the normal Samba distro.
