[Samba] advantages of PDC

I wanted to know what is the advantage of PDC. The purpose of samba in our
proj is just to share the unix directory and allow win2K users to add files
to unix.
Is it an advantage to make PDC????
Can i make the unix server appear in selected win2K systems.(i presume
adding workgroup will work.) if any other suggestions i would appreciate.
Another doubt was, when i installed samba i could see the unix server as its
hostname, can we change the way its listed in win2k.
Please help me.
