[Samba] SAMBA 2.2.5 & Solaris 8

I need help getting configure to run without error. I have a fresh solaris 8 install (2/02) with the solaris companion cd (gcc, gmake, etc). When I run ./configure I get an error:

checking whether struct passwd has pw_age... yes
checking for poptGetContext in -lpopt... yes
checking whether to use included popt... no
checking configure summary... configure: error: summary failure. Aborting config


and the tail of config.log looks like this:

configure: failed program was:
#line 13585 "configure"
#include "confdefs.h"
#include "./tests/summary.c"

Am I missing something... this has allways worked great in the past?
