Problem with filename length

Hi, I'm using samba 2.0.7 in a network as fileserver.
We are using many win98 clients to connect to.
On our clients runs a software called "RA Micro", p.s a software for layers.
This Software creates files with a filenamelenght of more then 180 characters.

Why can't a create as long filenames on my linuxbox with samba.
