Thanks for pointing me there. The patch did not work against Samba
3.0.2a so I patched it manually. It built without problems and
smbclient works fine with AMANDA, I just used it to dump a
test-partition.

I will report back when I get results from testing the exclusions in
the next days ...

Good idea. We will do some discussion about what features we need and
don't need for backups. Maybe this could even go that far that it
meets the ongoing development of a new AMANDA-interface to
smb-shares ...
