First, you need to understand that the Mesa DRI driver for the ATI R300
is *very* experimental.
Just so you see where I'm coming from, I have a newer Apple Powerbook,
which has an ATI RV350 Mobility Radeon 9600 -- It's essentially the same
card.  But on PowerPC, so ATI doesn't provide a driver (The difference
would be what?  Endianness?)

I have managed to get the DRM drivers working and the X.org DRI drivers
working for 2D acceleration, but no Mesa/GLX so far.
