As discussed please remove the [ignore] from the idl change,
as that's only needed to ignore pointer dereferencing
of non-idl based structures.

Please pushed the first part with my review/sign-off

We can use the #if 0 trick if we want to split large patches,
but I think it's good that we don't leave unused code.
