Hi Steve, are you using network-manager? if so you can turn off dnsmasq
in /etc/NetworkManager/NetworkManager.conf
Just comment out the line, dns=dnsmasq and restart network manager.
Ubuntu has been set up like this to cope with OpenVPN, even if you
haven't got OpenVPN
