Samba gets the listing but not read the files

Dear Samba Experts,

I am having peculier problem in samba configuration. I am able to mount
the shared folder but not able to read the file.(even if both are on
same machine)
Its giving  "cat: ash: Permission denied" problem.
 
 
<Samba settings>
 
[root at magic tmp]# testparm
Load smb config files from /etc/samba/smb.conf

[root at magic mnt]# mount -t cifs //192.168.5.2/tmp  /mnt/tmp  -o
username=xruser,pass=test123
 
<Accessing>
 
[root at magic tmp]# ll
total 392
-rw-r--r--  1 root root     19 Jul  7 15:16 ash
-rw-------  1 root root 391549 Jul  7 16:02 etherXXXXmttJYu

[root at magic tmp]# cat ash
cat: ash: Permission denied
