What's the difference between 3.4 and any further release?
What makes 3.5 more likely to carry this change than 3.4? If
3.2 was not suited to do this, I don't think any release
ever will be. 3.2 was a fresh start after more than 2 years,
and changing that default was too much for that?

I must be missing some grand plot here.
