Notify support removed

Hi,

in 3.0.25 the parameter "change notify timeout" has been removed. 
Does that mean, that notify is only supported when inotify is 
available? Are there any plans to integrate the previous method 
(polling) into the new notify subssystem?

I'm running samba under AIX and miss this feature.
