External idmap backend(s)

There was discussion around a year ago about creating an external idmap 
backend for Samba 3.0.x.  Two patches ended up surfacing - my patch here:

Is there any chance of either of these making it into Samba 3?

I don't mind dumping my patch and moving to Simo's more-fully-featured 
patch, although it might be nice to add an "exec" transport in addition 
to his unix/tcp transports.
