asking for a customer of mine:
My System:
--------------
Debian-Woody with a lot of Backport-Packages:
kernel 2.6.5-1
xfs: #define XFS_VERSION_STRING "SGI XFS" ???
dmesg: SGI XFS with ACLs, no debug enabled,
SGI XFS Quota Management subsystem;
mkfs.xfs version 2.6.11
smbd/nmbd 3.0.4-Debian
Background skripts to replikate users, groups,
a directorystructure and permissions from Netware/eDirectory
to Linux/Samba, so Linux can operate independent from Novell.
If you register an user in a group (/etc/group), samba does not
directly grant access to the files according to the group membership.
A simple logout/login doesn't help. You have to restart samba
(/etc/init.d/samba restart) to give the user access.
But if you remove a groupmembership of a user, its not necessary
to restart samba. If you log out and log in, you have lost the
permissison, that the GroupMembership grantet.
Is this a bug ?? Is there a workaround ?
Will sending SIGHUB reload the groups as well?
thanks and regards, Rainer
