RPC major/minor codes ??

If you are simply reading or writing a file, you generally do not use
RPC. RPC is mainly used for other functions, like logging on, setting
security descriptors, etc.

Luke Leighton's book is, perhaps, a good starting place. Unfortunately,
its name will not come to mind at the moment.
