I have a question about setting up samba. I have been
trying to setup samba to share a folder using user
authentication via a Windows NT PDC on the college
network. I setup the password server=* option and
security=domain. I guess my question is, what
exactly do I need to do to get file sharing to work
authenticating by user via the pdc? Here is my
smb.conf file:
# Samba config file created using SWAT
# from localhost (127.0.0.1)
# Date: 2000/06/07 08:20:05
# Global parameters
[global]
workgroup = MALONE
netbios name = CDVISION
server string = %h server (Samba %v)
security = DOMAIN
encrypt passwords = Yes

password server = *
passwd program = /usr/bin/passwd %u
passwd chat = *Enter\snew\sUNIX\spassword:* %n\n
*Retype\snew\sUNIX\spassword:* %n\n .
username map = /etc/samba/username.map
syslog = 0
max log size = 1000

shared mem size = 5242880
socket options = IPTOS_LOWDELAY TCP_NODELAY

Any help would be appreciated. Oh, I am trying to
share cdrom1. The other two shares are working
because I am allowing anyone to access them. Does
anyone have any suggestions on tracking down the
problem? Will samba or the windows clients provide me
w/ info on what is happening?
Shawn
