SCO 3.2v4.2 native compiler (not a current product but many out there)
All native compilers on UnixWare before UnixWare 7.
UnixWare 2.1.x is still a shipping product.
And if looking at the Mozilla source is any indication, some OS on some
NEC equipment. (maybe that's the obscure one)

One advantage of multiple Makefiles with configure/automake is that most
of the work is allready done to be able to build outside of the source tree.
Last time I checked this could not be done.
