AP scanning: client associates automatically

Hello,

I am using a Spectrum24 CF card from Symbol as wireless client. After
doing ap scanning
(using
iwlist <device> scan) the card associates with the first AP it sees. for
some reason, while associated with some AP, the following iwlist <device>
scan will report only the AP associated with the client.
Is there any way to avoid this "unwanted" association to happen?

Application like APradar will not work under Spectrum24 for this reason
(after the first scan, succesfull, no changes will be reported if you dont
type by hand iwconfig <device> essid any).
