Speedstream 1021 Wireless PCMCIA only works with pcmcia-cs-3.1.33

I was lucky to get my Speedstream 1021 Wireless PCMCIA (the 16-bit 
version not the new cardbus version) to work with orinoco_cs, 
pcmcia-cs-3.1.33 and RH 7.3. However, when I tried the latest 
pcmcia-cs-3.2.x, the kernel crashed during boot when loading PCMCIA card 
services and with the SS1021 card inserted. Has anyone experienced the 
same problem and figure out a solution?
