RG-1000 trouble

Hello all,

I managed to get my Orinoco Gold card to work (using the wavelan2_cs
driver, and not orinoco_cs, sadly). Now I'm having trouble with my
RG-1000 access point, and hoping someone can help me.

Please note: this is all on a pure linux system, and I am using J.
Sevy's Java-based Airport/RG-1000 configuration tool.

I managed initially to connect to the RG-1000, get a DHCP lease, and
configure the device. However, since I have my own DHCP server on the
network, I wanted it working in pure bridging mode, and set that up and
turned off the DHCP functionality. I reset it, and things stopped
working.

It failed to talk to my card, failed to talk to my wired network, and I
was unable to regain access to change any of the settings. Reading on
the Web, i found that my best choice was probably to do a forced erset,
which would require uploading all new firmware. I downloaded the latest
(v3.90) firmware for the RG-1000, and went to work.

I managed to reset the device _and_ upload the firmware. However, I
still have no access to the device. This should have reset it to
factory default options, but I cannot connect using the wireless card
and the same settings as before, and when I try to connect using a
crossover cable (which is how I uploaded the new firmware), I can see
the RG using the 'Discover Devices' functionality, but I cannot retrieve
the current settings, presumably because I am using the wrong password.

If anyone has been in a similar situation and can help me, or has some
useful advice, please reply.

Thank you very much,
katre
