Avaya (Lucent) PCI LAN card

This is probably a very elementary question,
but I'm not quite sure how to set up this card.
I have the Avaya card in my desktop ("alfred"),
and an Orinoco Gold PCMCIA card in my laptop ("william").
The Avaya card consists of a PCI-to-PCMCIA adaptor
together with a (removable) Avaya PCMCIA card.

I'd be very grateful for any advice or instructions
on the proper procedure.

I should admit at this point that my desktop has PCI-2.1.
I read somewhere that the Avaya PCI card would only work with PCI-2.2
(at least under Linux).
However, I don't think that is the problem on my desktop.
(Also, when I looked up the specs for the card on the web,
it explicitly said that the card worked under PCI-2.1 and 2.2.)

I followed the advice I saw somewhere on the web,
and installed the driver and other software
in wavelan2_cs-6.16Avaya.tar.gz .
(I'm using the standard orinoco_cs module
from linux-2.4.20-pre1 in the laptop.
I should say that the laptop with the Orinoco card
works perfectly with an Airport Access Point.)

The upshot of this is that the appropriate interface (eth2)
comes up on the desktop, as shown below.

Furthermore, there seems to be some communication between the two computers,
since the desktop gives the laptop's MAC address under "Access Point"
when run in Managed mode.
