Fitting extension antenna

I'm seeking a little knowledge for the learned members of this list. My
current setup is a Proxim Home RF syste, one cordless gateway, a Desktop
with an external antenna, and two laptops, one Linux, one Windows.
The Cordless gatewayt has an internal antenna and does not have sufficient
range. Our house is concrete which is a problem, as we can only get signal
in certain parts of the house.
I would like to add a high gain external antenna to the cordless gateway,
could anyone assist me with this modification. I can send a photo of the
internals of the unit if someone can give me a bit of advice.
