problem get'ing files

Using samba 3.0.10, I no longer seem to be able to get files, though I have 
no problem with put - see below:

smb: \asset\> get sentlist.now
getting file \asset\sentlist.now of size 5510 as sentlist.now Short read 
when ge
tting file \asset\sentlist.now. Only got 0 bytes.
(0.0 kb/s) (average 0.0 kb/s)

Any idea how to resolve this??
