filenames with spaces produce error message

hello,
i'm new to samba (client/server).
when i try to access my home dir on a w2k server from suse linux 8.2 with kde 3 and samba support (smb://...) , i get an
error message when accessing a folder which contains at least one file/folder with spaces. no folder content is
displayed. folders containing no files with spaces work fine.
any help available?
