Configuration files in SAMBA

Hi,

Does Win server (NT, 2000, XP) use any config file (like Samba server - smbd
use smb.conf) for processing requests from smbclient on Unix? 

Also, does smbclient use smb.conf for processing data prior to submitting
requests to the server?
